As reported by the Ministry of Economy, the evolution of shipments to the United States stood out, climbing 46% so far in 2024. Report by Argentine Daily, La Nación.

Argentina’s beef exports accumulated in the first nine months of 2024 the highest volume in the last 57 years, according to a report by the Ministry of Economy’s Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries. Foreign sales between January and September reached 699,987 tons of bone-in beef equivalent, generating revenues of 2,122 million US dollars.

The report details that of the 48 export markets, including the European Union (EU) as a single destination, the increases in shipments to the United States stood out with 46%, Chile 21%, Israel 11%, the EU 7% and China with an increase of 4%. A relevant fact is the incorporation of Mexico, which climbed to sixth place in the ranking of destinations, followed by Brazil, Russia, Canada and Malaysia. These ten markets accounted for 99% of the volume exported.

Increase in production and slaughter

The slaughter volume in the first nine months of 2024 reached 10.22 million head, exceeding the average for the 2017-2022 period of 9.9 million head, with the exception of 2023 as it was an atypical year. Total beef production in that period stood at 2,336 thousand tons of bone-in beef, also above the average of 2,252 thousand tons for the 2017-2022 period.

Of the meat produced in Argentina, 70% was destined for the domestic market and the remaining 30% for exports. This growth in production and slaughter reflects an expanding sector.
