One of the most important events in the leather industry in recent years is about to take place. The next edition of the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE), in Shanghai, China, will happen between the 29th and 31st of August and it is very special: the activity does not take place in its traditional period since 2019. The Brazilian leather sector will be at the fair with 13 companies exhibiting leathers with the support of the Brazilian Leather project – an initiative to encourage exports carried out in partnership by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

In addition to being the main Chinese fair in the sector, and with the pause of its classic format for three years, the 2023 ACLE brings additional expectations due to the size of the market it represents. China and Hong Kong alone accounted for 27.7% of leather exports from Brazil last year. “Travel restrictions to China have been severe during the pandemic, and now the country is opened up and accessible to foreigners. So, there are companies that have not seen their customers in person since 2019. We have many opportunities to bring contacts and relationships closer together at ACLE 2023”, highlights Letícia Luft, manager of the Brazilian Leather project.

The fair will take place with its complete program, including a press conference, seminars, opening ceremony and the trade show for leather and other materials (such as components for shoes, chemicals and technology) from countries such as the United States, Italy, Argentina, Japan and others. In addition to companies in the leather sector in Brazil with exclusive stands at ACLE, the country will be present with a Brazilian Leather individual space, where leathers from the most recent Leather Preview show (Preview do Couro) collection will be displayed. It is composed of articles produced by several tanneries in the country and that participated in the most recent edition of Inspiramais.
