Seeking to create “more, better, and new markets” for US producers, the Department of Agriculture provided a total of $223 million in grants, loans, and loan guarantees to expand meat and poultry processing capacity, and so cater for strong demand.
The plan included $73 million in grants for 21 projects in the first round of the Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion Programme, $75 million for eight projects through the Meat and Poultry Intermediary Loan Programme, and $75 million for four related to meat and poultry distribution channels.
