The latest in science, technology, and positive experiences in the leather industry will soon be shared, both in person and online, in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), reports the CICB Press Office.
The 5th World Leather Congress and the 36th IULTCS Congress (International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies) will take place consecutively from November 1 to 5. The Brazilian Leather project – an initiative of the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) – is a supporter of the congresses. There will be an exclusive lecture about the leather sector in Brazil and its advances with the Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability (CSCB).
The central themes of these editions of the congresses are, respectively, Leather – a Gift from Nature, and Greening the Leather Value Chain. Both set the guidelines to indicate the path leather research and development should follow: sustainability. This should come with chemical and process solutions that minimize impacts on the environment and improve results in other areas of the industry. The themes demonstrate the importance of showing all the progress that is already being made routinely among tanners and why this knowledge must be shared with different audiences, not only those who work directly in the industry.
“It will be an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge, experience, and expertise with professionals and colleagues from around the world, to support our industry for the future,” says Rogério Cunha, from CICB’s Trade Intelligence. He will be one of the speakers at the World Leather Congress, presenting the lecture ” Leather value chain and Sustainability as the industry driver” online, on November 1 (12h35min, local time in Adis Ababa / GMT 03:00).
