Today we’re celebrating Global Recycling Day! A perfect excuse to champion the makers in our industry utilising leather for upcycling, re-purposing, repair and recycling.

Last year we launched our first ever global Leather Repair Directory. A free resource available for anyone across the world who wants to honour and not trash their leather treasures – whether that’s a vintage jacket, premium car interior or an iconic chair.

And in honour of stylish recycling in action, Helen Kirkum caught our attention at London Fashion Week. Her Studio rescues odd sneakers from landfill. Their unique ‘Collaged Sneaker Leather’ from upcycled leather and dead stock material, transforms into brilliant one of a kind new authentic sneaker styles.

“We aim to reconnect people with the craftsmanship and tactility of products that have been lost through mass production”.
