In keeping with previous results periods, and in contrast to rival companies, luxury group Hermès has reported strong figures for the first half of 2024. By Leatherbiz.
Its revenues for the six-month period were €7.5 billion, an increase of 12% year on year, with all geographical recording double-digit growth with the exception of Asia, where growth was 7.1%, owing to a tighter market in China.
Revenues more than doubled in the Middle East, reaching €311 million in the first half of this year, up by 105.4% compared to the same six-month period in 2023.
On reporting the results, executive chairman, Axel Dumas, said: “These solid first-half results, in a complex economic and geopolitical context, reflect the strength of Hermès’ model. The group is confident in the future and is continuing to invest, to pursue its vertical integration projects and to create new jobs, while remaining true to its values.”
At the end of the six-month period, Hermès had 23,242 employees worldwide, up by 12.8% year on year. During the first half of 2024, all permanent employees worldwide received a bonus of €4,000 as a reward for a strong performance in 2023.
