2022 was a golden year for luxury and designer labels. This is certified, while 2023 has frozen their growth and is frustrating suppliers, the new edition of Global Powers of Luxury Goods 2023 by Deloitte. The turnover of the first 100 groups in the world was 347 billion dollars, 42 billion more than in 2021. This means an overall growth of 20%. The profit margin also grew, from 12.2 to 13.4% (+1.2%). 23 Italian companies are among the top 100. Meanwhile, Forbes has published the ranking of personal assets: Giovanni Ferrero is clearly ahead of Giorgio Armani. The couple Miuccia Prada-Patrizio Bertelli, however, is sixth. Report by La Conceria.
The ranking of the brands
LVMH, Kering and Richemont occupy, in order, the podium of luxury companies. Among the 23 Italian companies, Prada (18th), Moncler stand out ( 27th) and Giorgio Armani (30th) which together generate 35% of 2022 sales of the Italian companies present in the Deloitte ranking. The first two confirmed their position compared to last year. Armani, however, loses two positions. Golden Goose is the Italian company with the fastest growth: its compound annual growth rate (CAGR) is 24.1% in the period 2019- 2022. The curiosity is that Farfetch confirms itself as the company with the fastest growth rate. Paradoxical, considering that today, a year after the data on which Deloitte’s work is based, the portal is in extreme difficulty.
