The U.S apparel and footwear corporation, which owns brands such as Timberland and Vans, has published Made for Change, its fourth sustainability and responsibility report, writes ILM.
Among its achievements from the past year, the group has achieved 100% leather sourced from Leather Working Group (LWG) audited tanneries. Going forward, Timberland and VF will reportedly work with the LWG to develop chemistries that will further reduce the environmental impact of the leather supply chain.
The group also identified environmental risks associated with sourcing leather from Brazil and linked to deforestation in the Amazon. As a result, the group will no longer source leather for international products from Brazil until it can be certain that the materials used in its products will not contribute to this problem.
The full report can be found on the VF Group website.
