Hotter Shoes, under new ownership by WoolOvers, is set to significantly boost its UK production, aiming to manufacture one million pairs of shoes annually. By Footwearbiz.
The move will reduce reliance on overseas production, with the proportion of UK-made shoes rising from 25% to 75%, according to reports by The Times. The shift comes as part of WoolOvers’ new strategy to halt previous offshoring plans, ensuring greater quality control and creating jobs in Britain.
WoolOvers’ CEO, Mike Lester, cited strong consumer demand for locally made products, particularly for Hotter Shoes’ focus on comfort and fit, popular among its older customer base. The plan also seeks to enhance profit margins by capitalising on the minimal cost difference between UK and overseas production.
Since its acquisition in 2023, Hotter Shoes has seen a sales recovery, reflecting market confidence in its new direction.
