Tibet - Welfare Standards for Tibetan Yaks now approved

Francis Tsang writes on LinkedIn: We are excited to announce that on March 11, the “Welfare Requirements for Farm Animals – Yak” group standard, initiated by the International Cooperation Committee of Animal Welfare (ICCAW), was successfully reviewed online.

This is the world’s first welfare standard, specifically for Tibetan Yaks. The development process took nearly a year, led by Dr. Liu Shujie from Qinghai University, in collaboration with industry experts and key enterprises. Several seminars and surveys were conducted to analyze domestic and international materials, assess welfare levels in pastoral areas, and gather industry opinions, all contributing to the draft for review.
