Key industry challenges discussed at APLF Symposium

Fernando Bellese of WWF

Some of the hottest topics facing the global leather industry were discussed at the Leather Supply Chain Symposium 2025 in Hong Kong on March 11. By ILM.

The half-day event, co-organised by ILM and APLF, took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre ahead of the APLF fair and included seven keynote presentations delivered to 80 attendees covering the whole leather supply chain.

Key presentations covered important topics such as deforestation-free supply chains, preparing for upcoming EUDR legislation, the role of AI and traceability in the leather supply chain, the latest leather LCA datasets and the increase of anti-ESG sentiment and its impact on the leather industry, among others.

Each presentation was followed by lively discussions among delegates on how the industry can move forward and evolve. More detailed information will be published by ILM in the coming days.

About APLF

We bring leather, material and fashion businesses together: an opportunity to meet and greet face to face. We bring them from all parts of the world so that they can find fresh partners, discover new customers or suppliers and keep ahead of industry developments.

We organise a number of trade exhibitions which focus on fashion and lifestyle: sectors that are constantly in flux, so visitors and exhibitors alike need to be constantly aware both of the changes around them and those forecast for coming seasons.
