Leatherbiz Market Intelligence - Decision-time has come and gone

A new Market Intelligence newsletter went live on February 18. By Leatherbiz.

This time, the publication points out that we are now in “the final phase” of what is traditionally the busiest production season of the year.
This means, it adds, the main decisions about leather’s use in consumer goods that will go into shops over the course of much of the rest of 2025 have already been made and firmed up. And it will be some time before decisions for future seasons have to be made.

A few further signals of hope have appeared in recent weeks. Leather clothing was prominent at the latest runway shows in New York. And sports brand adidas has stood up to misplaced criticism from campaign groups over its use of leather, and is using the material in more footwear models and in other product areas.
