Paris-based leathergoods brand Phi 1.618 was one of the brands that took part in the Première Classe event at the end of September. By Leatherbiz.
Founder, Juliette Angeletti, said afterwards that she had been delighted by the venue, an underground shopping centre called Carrousel du Louvre. As the name suggests, the shopping centre is located at the site of the Louvre museum.
Ms Angeletti chose the name Phi 1.618 for her handbag brand because it represents the Phi Golden Ratio, which ancient Greek thinkers believed gave the most aesthetically pleasing shapes in the proportion of, approximately, eight:five.
She said the location held a particular relevance for the brand because the Golden Ratio was on display famously and beautifully “right above our heads” in two of the museum’s most prominent exhibits.
The proportions she admires so much are integral to the appeal of the Louvre Pyramid and to the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci.
“It was an inspiring environment in which to meet buyers from Italy, Japan, the US and other markets,” the brand’s founder said.
