China - Sustainable yak herding in Tibet

Francis Tsang, co-founder of the ChromeFree Leather Alliance (CFLA), writes on LinkedIn that Tibetan nomads respect nature and live in harmony with their surroundings. They deeply understand the land, resources, and the delicate balance required for sustainable herding practices. Their nomadic lifestyle allows the land to regenerate, ensuring the preservation of the ecosystem for future generations.

Tibetan nomads practice self-sufficiency, relying on their domestic Yak herds and the land for their basic needs. They produce food, clothing, and shelter, minimizing their dependence on external resources.

Partnering with international tanneries, we aim to ethically purchase and save as many Tibetan Yak hides as possible from each nomadic herder family without a landfill. This helps Tibetan herders and farmers stay on the land and maintain a traditional, carbon-absorbing way of life.
