Tibet - Yak Herding

Francis Tsang, co-founder of the ChromeFree Leather Alliamce (CFLA) writes on Linkedin: High on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, nomads roamed the lands with their herds of yaks, drifting across the vast landscape with no specific place to call their home. Traveling from one grazing land to the next, these ancient herders lived as nomads on the plateau, setting up camp wherever there was lush grazing for their animals and sleeping in tents made of yak hair.

Slaughter occurs mainly in November, just before winter, and yak meat is dried for later consumption.

In joining forces, we aim to ethically purchase and save as many Regenerative Yak hides as possible from each herder family in the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau without a landfill.

About APLF

We bring leather, material and fashion businesses together: an opportunity to meet and greet face to face. We bring them from all parts of the world so that they can find fresh partners, discover new customers or suppliers and keep ahead of industry developments.

We organise a number of trade exhibitions which focus on fashion and lifestyle: sectors that are constantly in flux, so visitors and exhibitors alike need to be constantly aware both of the changes around them and those forecast for coming seasons.
