On Thursday, November 24, there was a one-day national strike in the packing industry, called for by the Workers’ Federation of the Meat and Related Industries (Foica).
In a statement, the union pointed out “the deep rejection and repudiation of arbitrary and unjustified sanctions, repression, discrimination and systematic persecution of the unionised workers of the Frigocerro company”, in Durazno.
Foica has asked the Ministry of Labour to intervene to revoke the sanctions on a group of workers at that plant.
