US hide export figures for 2021continue to show strong growth, reports Leatherbiz.

Statistics for the first 11 months of last year, which the Leather and Hide Council of America published on January 11, show total hide exports of almost 32.2 million. This represents an increase of 42.1% compared to the same months in 2020.

Making up the figure for the January-November period in 2021 were shipments of 28.1 million wet-salted hides and just over 4 million wet blue. Respectively, these figures mean volume increases of 40% and 55%.

In terms of value, hide exports in those first 11 months of last year brought in just under $1.3 billion, an increase of almost 65% year on year.

Wet-salted hides earned export revenues of $880.7 million, up by 69%, while wet blue shipments earned $410.2 million, an increase of 55%.
