The Minister of Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Judith Ncube was reportedly impressed when she visited the Zambezi Tanners’ factory in Bulawayo, reports ILM.
During the tour, Ncube was shown how the facility manufactures leather from bovine hides as well as crocodile and other animal skins to make products such as shoes and belts.
“[Zambezi Tanners] are making us proud as a country,” she said, going on to explain that cattle farmers are key players in the leather supply chain in Zimbabwe, and that further efforts should be made to ensure that the hides sourced are of the highest quality from the healthiest animals.
She continued: “We need to come up with central (collection) points in these villages so that our parents and farmers would know where to take their hides at that level.”
We bring leather, material and fashion businesses together: an opportunity to meet and greet face to face. We bring them from all parts of the world so that they can find fresh partners, discover new customers or suppliers and keep ahead of industry developments.
We organise a number of trade exhibitions which focus on fashion and lifestyle: sectors that are constantly in flux, so visitors and exhibitors alike need to be constantly aware both of the changes around them and those forecast for coming seasons.
